Foi o primeiro de muitos muitos European Rollers, tantos que, ao fim da viagem, Pedro se recusava a parar quando eu queria tirar mais uma foto de um... Trata-se da única ave de sua família que procria na Europa. Só são vistos no Kruger no verão. Esta ave tem uma grande população global, com uma distribuição geográfica ampla. Na Europa, foi estimada uma população de 100 a 220 mil indivíduos, mas ela se encontra atualmente em declínio. No Kruger, na época em que estávamos lá, era muito abundante.
